If your company culture, had to be summed up in five words or less, reflective of a gemstone, what would they be?

Integrity, innovation, service, collaboration, and quality.

Roger and Jackie Wilson never planned to be running a coffee shop at just short of Medicare eligibility!  They still marvel at being together. They dated in high school and college, but went on to separate careers and marriages.  After those marriages ended, they reconnected eight years ago and married five years ago.  Retired from their careers, life together looked to be a wonderful time of travelling and someday enjoying grandchildren from their four wonderful children, two each from their first marriages.

However, being richly blessed, they had the urge to give back, but wondered just how God could use them.  Jackie had somewhat gone along with Roger’s crazy thoughts of starting a coffee shop.  They attended a “So You Want to Start Your Own Business” seminar, which helped them immediately decide that they “Did Not Want to Start Their Own Business!”

That is, until one Sunday morning when Dr. Stephen Sams announced during his sermon that Axis Christian Church was looking for someone to run a coffee shop.  Space had been built out to develop relationships with the local community and yep, you guessed it, from the profits of a coffee shop, to give back.  It appeared that Jackie and Roger had their answer to how God will use them, so here they are, taking exactly what their LLC says.

Welcome to Kala Coffeehouse operated by Our Leap of Faith.

Creating Community Connections Through Caring.

WCCS is a story of success. A small group of concerned citizens addressed an anti-poverty issue in the 1960’s and it mushroomed into an organization that provides a wide variety of services and programs across Warren County. Our mission is to strengthen the fabric of our community by providing services and connecting people to resources necessary for realizing their full potential for a quality life.

WCCS Aging Services are dedicated to assisting older adults and their family members. Our goal is to help persons 60 and over maintain independence in their own home. This includes Meals on Wheels, Care Management, and Transportation. We also have a senior center, congregate dining locations, and eleven different affordable housing communities for low-income senior citizens.

Preparing children for success in kindergarten and bright futures is the goal of our WCCS Early Learning Centers. We offer 5 Star Rated (out of 5) classrooms for infants, toddlers, and preschool children, ages birth to 4 years old, throughout the county. Giving all children an opportunity for early childhood education starts them on their way toward bright futures.

Through the years, WCCS has touched the lives of tens of thousands of people by providing a family of services to assist them in facing urgent needs, a devastating disease, or simply help to improve their quality of life. We are the largest private, non-profit, social service organization in the county.

Like the ruby, businesses and organizations have many facets that must be polished to maintain brilliance. Which facet is your strength and why?

Connecting people to available resources is our strength. For more than 50 years WCCS has linked the community with the services needed to obtain and maintain long-term housing, combat rising energy costs, and to remain active and independent. We have prepared children to succeed in school and adults to increase literacy skills. We have established numerous partnerships with other community organizations to be successful in the important work we do.
