Meet Your 2019 Hospitality Hero Nominees

Frutta Bowls started in 2016 as the brainchild of Brooke Gagliano. After spending her college career focused on health, wellness, and sports, Brooke sought out a way to pursue those interests while building her career. While on a trip out west, Brooke came across the Açai bowl concept and the idea for Frutta Bowls was born.

Brooke opened the first two Frutta Bowls locations with great success near her hometown of Freehold NJ. Her family, all very involved in health and wellness, decided to take the leap of faith with her. Leaving their corporate careers, Brooke and her family have made her dream of creating a healthy and delicious restaurant a reality.

The Frutta Bowls dream started as a local idea with two locations. It has since grown into a nationwide concept, continuing to positively affect many lives along the way. Frutta Bowls sets itself apart by our commitment to providing healthy, delicious food, but also by our involvement in the communities surrounding each location.

Each Frutta Bowls franchise strives to get to know the surrounding community on a deeper  level, creating relationships and focusing on giving back.  It is our goal to not only be in a community but to be part of the community.

Like the ruby, businesses and organizations have many facets that must be polished to maintain brilliance. Which facet is your strength and why?

The fact that we offer gluten free options. There are few places that have as many gluten free options as we do.

If your company culture, had to be summed up in five words or less, reflective of a gemstone, what would they be?

Dazzling and delicious.

In June of 2015 two women whom didn't know each other got together for a meet and greet arranged by a mutual friend. Carey Allen Greiner and Mary Thress met for the first time at Ruby Tuesdays in Kenwood, OH, for what was supposed to take 15-20 minutes. After an hour and a half we knew we could make this partnership work! We hit the ground running towards a Nothing Bundt Cakes franchise. Two days after our meeting, Mary had her weekly Chinese dinner and her fortune cookie said: "Your spirit of adventure leads you down an exciting new path."  This was the "aha" moment!

Carey is the influence behind our bakery. She grew up in Las Vegas, where the brand started with Dena Tripp & Debbie Shwetz in 1997. Mary, who has lived in Cincinnati all her life is the energy for the bakery. Together, Carey & Mary have become a "Recipe for Success!"

Our handcrafted delicious cakes are made from the finest ingredients, including real eggs, butter and cream cheese. Each bite slowly melts in your mouth, calling you back to a day when life was a little sweeter and time passed more slowly. Our cakes are perfect for every occasion and bring you joy to anyone who tastes them.

Like the ruby, businesses and organizations have many facets that must be polished to maintain brilliance. Which facet is your strength and why?

Our facet of strength is being a good steward to our business to maintain a successful business to serve the community.  We pay close attention to the details of our products and of our team members and managers to make sure everyone who walks through our door has a positive and joyful experience.  This will keep our business viable which in turn maintains our ability to thrive in our growing community. Our ability to grow in this community will in turn attract other businesses to the area.

We’re radiant champions of joy!

Recently I celebrated my 50th birthday and realized I have been in the service business for 25 years. I have met scores of people and worked with numerous organizations in that time and these connections have opened doors for me to pursue new found interests in charities I never knew existed beforehand. Not to sound cliché, but my greatest achievement was becoming a mother to my son, Johnathan, almost 13 years ago.

Like the ruby, businesses and organizations have many facets that must be polished to maintain brilliance. Which facet is your strength and why?

Networking, I love meeting people.  I love watching people/organizations thrive and celebrate their success and partnership.  Whether it’s a couple starting a new life together or a company party celebrating the year-every day is different at my job.

If your personal persona, had to be summed up in five words or less, reflective of a gemstone, what would they be?

Genuine, valuable, fiery, and sparkly.
