A Bit About Building Blocks for Kids
Founded in January 2003, Building Blocks for Kids (BB4K) was created with a singular mission: to bring hope, resources, and life-changing support to families raising children with physical, emotional, and developmental challenges. Over the past two decades, BB4K has impacted the lives of more than 1,000 children and awarded over $2 million in scholarships—each one a stepping stone toward a brighter future.

But our mission is more than numbers. It’s about transforming lives.

Imagine a child unable to speak with their family due to a speech disorder, or a child confined to the first floor of their home because they can’t climb the stairs. These are the children we serve—and behind each child is a family navigating daily challenges with courage and love. BB4K exists to ease that burden and restore hope.

Our programs provide therapy, home modifications, medical equipment, transportation assistance, and more—tailored to meet each child’s unique needs. Whether it’s a ramp that opens up a home, a device that unlocks communication, or therapy that nurtures growth, our support empowers children to thrive and families to breathe a little easier.

Guided by our core values—compassion, commitment, hope, family, and community—we serve families within a 120-mile radius of Greater Cincinnati, building a network of care and connection. We believe that when a child’s life improves, the entire family is uplifted. Parents regain strength. Siblings feel supported. Homes become places of healing and possibility.

At BB4K, we don’t just provide assistance—we build futures, one child and one family at a time.
Learn A Bit More
Why is being part of the Mason Deerfield Chamber important to you/your organization?
Like the amethyst, businesses and organizations have many facets. Which facet is your strength and why?
If your company culture, or personal persona, had to be summed up in five words or less, reflective of a
gemstone, what would they be?
Networking and collaborating is very important to us as a nonprofit and the MADE Chamber is very intentional about giving members a lot of opportunities to connect.
The strength of Building Blocks for Kids lies in our resiliency and long lasting impact. Gemstones are known for being durable and hence, for their ability to be passed down through generations. In that same way, BB4K has always had a relient culture of adaptability and the ability to bounce back from challenges including the recession of 2008 and COVID. In addition, the landscape of fundraising has changed a lot over 20 years, especially in the digital sense, and BB4K has continued to adapt with those changes.
