MADE Chamber & Community Involvement:

  • I've only been a member of the Chamber for a few months but I look forward to becoming more involved with the programs and members!

  • We lost our daughter, Maya, to cancer in 2017. The Mason/Deerfield and surrounding communities expressed the most incredible outpouring of love and support towards our family during our journey.  A week before Maya passed away, September 25, 2017, the city of Mason declared the day, "Maya Collins Day." The entire town attended the event at the Municiple building and a proclamation was written for that day. I vowed that I would pay-it-forward to our entire community after that day, and I live every day with that intent. I founded the Live Like Maya Foundation in 2019 with the intent to pay-it-forward to our incredible community for the love that they bestowed upon our family.  Not only does the foundation support local pediatric cancer families financially (so far this year we have aided $30,000 to families in the area dealing with the devastation of pediatric cancer) but we also have supported several initiatives throughout the community such as Angel Alley in downtown Mason, the Mason City Schools opening day breakfast, and we have awarded 5 scholarships to Mason seniors who have displayed exemplary life skills such as community service, overcoming obstacles, leadership activities, and family commitment to name a few.  We have much more planned for the near future!

Fun Facts About You/Your Business:

  • A fun fact about me is.... I designed Pink's very first website in 2001! You can view it on my website:  BonnieCollinsDesign.com.  I worked with Pink and her father who was her manager at the time and they were so kind and wonderful to work with!  It's my one claim to fame!

A Bit About Bonnie Collins

Graduating from the University of Tennessee in ’91, majoring in Advertising,  Bonnie Collins has over 20 years of advertising/design experience.  She has worked for several large corporations before branching out independently and starting her own business, Bonnie Collins Design.  While working at Philips Consumer Electronics Collins helped implement the global "High Design Process", a process for designing high-end design deliverables efficiently and economically while maintaining creative integrity. She's incorporated some of these strategies into her own company’s processes today.

Collins design agency has grown almost exclusively through client referrals. It focuses on web and print design, as well as branding and corporate identity. They’ve helped many companies implement successful branding strategies and marketing campaigns, which include logo, identity, print collateral, social media and web design. Thier expertise is high-end, creative solutions that cut through the clutter.  Getting you noticed while also helping you develop a strong, lasting brand presence in a busy marketplace!

In 2005 Collins moved to Mason from Atlanta with her two daughters, Annabella and Maya. In 2011 Maya was tragically diagnosed with an aggressive form of leukemia at the age of 8 and passed away in 2017. Maya’s journey changed the trajectory of her life in a profound way. In 2019 she founded The Live Like Maya Foundation with the intent to pay-it-forward to the community for all of the incredible support that they bestowed upon her family during Maya’s journey.  Since the inception of the foundation, they have raised close to $500K to support local pediatric cancer families, pediatric cancer research and “kindness initiatives” within the Mason/Deerfield community.

In 2020, her husband, Tom, opened a brewery in Sharonville, Third Eye Brewing Company. They are now opening a second location in Hamilton, projected to open in October. Collins currently also work as event director, graphic designer and does most of the social media marketing for the brewery.

Learn A Bit More

Why is being part of the Mason Deerfield Chamber important to you/your organization?

Like the sapphire, businesses and organizations have many facets. Which facet is your strength and why?

If your company culture, or personal persona, had to be summed up in five words or less, reflective of a
gemstone, what would they be?

I am excited to be a member of the Chamber as I hope to become more involved and learn of new ways that I'm able to support the community.  The Chamber is such an integral party of the community and a wonderful vessel to unite our members, lift us up and support us all.  The Chamber, like a gem, reflects the incredible community that we live in.

I think my facet of strength would be lifting people up and supporting them when they need it the most.  This is what brings me joy and gets me out of bed each morning. Knowing that I can HELP people.  If I can help pay a family's rent for the month, or medical bills... if I can bring someone a meal or hold their hand on their darkest days. If I can connect someone to someone else who can help. I have a pretty decent following, and connecting people who need assistance to others who have the knowledge and expertise who can help brings me great joy!
