Sonder Brewing, 2024 Pink Diamond Finalist

MADE Chamber & Community Involvement:

  • I’m excited to be part of the Leaders Are MADE women’s leadership program, where I get to connect with other inspiring women and grow my skills.

  • I also lead Sonder's hospitality team, and it’s always a pleasure to host MADE Chamber events and create memorable experiences for everyone involved.

Fun Facts About You/Your Business:

  • I’m originally from New Glarus, Wisconsin, but my journey brought me here with my husband to help kickstart Sonder Brewing. I jumped in wherever needed, whether it was bartending, landscaping, or even pitching in to build our first bar.

  • I also helped launch our events team, which now organizes over 1,000 events each year! These days, I manage our charitable partnerships, events, and the bar and kitchen teams across both our locations, leading a fantastic crew of over 50 people.

  • I’m proud that since opening, we’ve been able to give over $150,000 to local nonprofits. I’m deeply passionate about supporting small businesses and doing whatever it takes to make them thrive.

  • When I’m not working, you’ll find me traveling, hiking, cooking, gardening, or indulging in some delicious cheese.

A Bit About Haley Shutter

Haley's story began in the charming Swiss-inspired town of New Glarus, Wisconsin, where she immersed herself in the local culture by participating in various festivals and the legendary Wilhelm Tell play. With a background in education specializing in communicative sciences and disorders, Haley's journey took an exciting turn after college when she co-founded a vibrant early childhood education center.

Her adventures led her to Cincinnati in the summer of 2017, alongside her high school sweetheart and lifelong partner, Chase. Together, they embarked on a bold new venture: be a part of the launch of Sonder Brewing. Haley’s role evolved from a dedicated volunteer during the brewery's construction to spearheading its events and charitable initiatives. As the brewery grew, so did her responsibilities, and she now expertly manages the taproom and oversees the kitchen operations. She couldn’t be more proud to be a part of the Sonder community.

When she’s not busy at Sonder, Haley can be found savoring moments with friends, exploring new destinations, tending to her garden, or experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen.

Why is being part of the Mason Deerfield Chamber important to you/your organization?

Like the pink diamond, businesses and organizations have many facets. Which facet is your strength and why?

If your company culture, or personal persona, had to be summed up in five words or less, reflective of a
gemstone, what would they be?

The Chamber has been instrumental in supporting our major community events, such as Sonder & Friends Oktoberfest, and has facilitated valuable partnerships within the community. I firmly believe that the MADE region is a leading force in Southern Ohio, and I take pride in leading one of the region's growing hospitality businesses. My commitment to supporting local nonprofit organizations has been greatly enhanced by our collaboration with the Chamber, and I’m grateful for the opportunities it has provided to strengthen our community.

Consistency and compassion.  I care deeply about people and seeing people reach their full potential.  I love watching people succeed beyond what they even knew was possible.
