Every gem has something that makes it shine. What would you say is your greatest strength or “sparkle,” and how does it show up in your/your organizations work?

My father was a minister. Before we came to Warren County we had next to nothing. Experiencing poverty helped me relate to those struggling now. My father taught me not to judge people by their appearance but to love and accept people for where they are at. Through the years this experience with poverty has helped me better relate to others. I owe so much to God and to Warren County.

A Bit About Kevin Stevens

Kevin Stevens is a dedicated public servant, Army Veteran, and experienced social work professional with more than 35 years of service supporting children, families, and communities. Currently serving as the Supervisor of Community Programs and Supports for the Warren County Educational Service Center, Kevin leads initiatives designed to strengthen community-based services and improve outcomes for youth and families.

Prior to his current role, Kevin served as Chief Probation Officer, where he provided leadership in juvenile justice and championed approaches focused on rehabilitation, accountability, and positive youth development. Throughout his career, he has remained committed to creating opportunities for young people to succeed while addressing the complex challenges facing vulnerable populations.

Kevin also serves as Chair of the Warren County Clinical Committee, a collaborative body with the help of the Warren County Educational Service Center is dedicated to identifying effective community-based interventions and supports for children and families. Under his leadership, the committee works to keep children in their homes and communities whenever possible, reducing the need for residential placement while ensuring access to appropriate care and services.

If your company culture, or personal persona, had to be summed up in five words or less, reflective of a
gemstone, what would they be?

I have had the privilege of working with dozens of youth from Mason. Mason City Schools has been a great partner. Mason truly supports people of all levels of income. I have found the residents of Mason willing to give of themselves to help others.

WCESC Programs helps feed, cloth and provide other supports to over 7,0000 kids per year.

Coordinated Care has partnered with Family Promise to provide respite care to homeless children.

Coordinated Care provides free anger management classes to any at risk youth.
