Mason Schools Foundation

2023 Community Partner of the Year Finalist

MADE Chamber & Community Involvement:

  • MSF participates in sponsored events & coffee connections when possible.  Sadly, monthly meetings are at the same time as MSF board meetings which prevents us from attending as often as we would like.

Fun Facts About You/Your Business:

  • It all began with one Mason family, Ken & Joan Campbell, who invested "above & beyond" in public education.  The power of one!

  • Based on generous support from business owners and individual donors, MSF has been able to invest over ONE MILLION in the educational journey of Mason Comets since 2008!

  • Annually, MSF funds grants totally over $100,000  to take Mason Comets “Above & Beyond” and strives to create a sustainable endowment.

A Bit About Mason Schools Foundation

The Mason Schools Foundation funds innovative programs that help take all Mason students Above & Beyond. During the Mason City School district’s period of tremendous growth, Ken and Joan Campbell generously donated funds in honor of their 40th wedding anniversary for the district to leverage into something more to help all Mason students. In 2008, a team of residents, parents, business leaders and school officials formed to leverage the Campbell’s initial gift into what is now the Mason Schools Foundation (MSF); an independent 501(c)3 non-profit organization with a resident-driven board of directors.

Since its inception, the Mason Schools Foundation has funded grants and innovative programs to help create extraordinary learning experiences in our schools. The Foundation has played an integral role in helping the district through times of rapid growth and massive changes in education by funding grants to enable great programs such as the MHS Language Lab, the MMS Robotics Class, MI’s Author Visits and Math and Science Night, Western Row’s STEAM and STEM Labs and the MECC Outdoor Classroom just to name a few.

Why is being part of the Mason Deerfield Chamber important to you/your organization?

Like the sapphire, businesses and organizations have many facets. Which facet is your strength and why?

If your company culture, or personal persona, had to be summed up in five words or less, reflective of a
gemstone, what would they be?

It allows an opportunity to connect with the community in meaningful ways to create a vibrant and thriving community.

MSF is a brilliant cut that allows others such as our talented teachers and staff along with local businesses to shine bright!  MSF provides funds to support teachers dreams and elevate educational opportunities.  The grant supporting experiential learning provides local businesses employees and interns to create a thriving community.

A cut above the rest!  MSF strives to be a catalyst for innovation to take Mason Comets and our community "Above & Beyond" and by building lasting relationships.
